IMPORTANT!
When upgrading your SpeechMike Air to firmware version 1.18 please make sure that both - the SpeechMike Air
AND the AirBridge are paired.
The firmware upgrade process will upgrade the firmware in both devices.
To run a firmware upgrade please do following:
- Connect the AirPort cradle to the PC and a power supply-
- Put both the SpeechMike Air and the AirBridge into the AirPort cradle.
- Make sure that both devices are connected and paired (the blue connection LED on both devices has to be lit constantly)
- Use the SpeechControl software to upgrade the firmware and wait until the firmware upgrade process is finished.
ATTENTION: After the firmware upgrade a SpeechMike Air and an AirBridge cannot be paired if they do not contain the same firmware version.
IMPROVEMENTS:
Firmware version 1.18 contains following improvements:
- Power Management
A lot of improvements in the power management have been implemented.
Due to this improvements the battery life is extended in average by up to 30% compared to previous firmware versions.
- New Beep Tones
Beep tones for audible signalling of different modes have been reworked to give a much clearer feedback.
To ensure battery recharging a new beep tone also signals whether the SpeechMike Air has been completely docked into the AirPort cradle.
- ‘Fake’ Half Duplex Mode
Though the device stays in full duplex mode, the playback path is muted (microphone is still active and has higher priority).
This will suppress distortions by e.g. system notifications during recording.
- Dragon Naturally Speaking
Recognition performance in cooperation with Dragon Naturally Speaking has been increased.
This results in a faster recognition results after record start and improves the record start/stop behavior.
SOLVED ISSUES:
Firmware version 1.18 solves following issues:
- Spurious out of reach warning
Some programs (especially remote desktop software) caused the device to report the out-of-reach warning even if the device was within reach.
Firmware 1.18 now provides a much more stable wireless connection compared to previous firmware versions.
- Buttons Response
Under rare circumstances no or too many button events were sent to the PC.
Firmware 1.18 now secures that all button events coming from the SpeechMike Air are correctly transferred to the PC.

SOLVED PROBLEM:
Delete part of a recoding
To delete a section of a recording two markers need to be set through selecting the Delete section mode in the Main Menu. In rare cases, when one of the two delete-position-markers was set to the very end of the file, it could happen that after the execution of the delete section function an old parts of a previous recorded job was audible. This firmware fixes this problem.
